This is a minority report because I am not a fan of the story. Maybe it has something to do with the fact this is a romance set in contemporary times and therefor I expect there will be a certain amount of credibility to the tale, though I am not such a stickler that I can't appreciate the fairy-tale aspect to the story. In fact, this is the 3rd "Wedding Veil wishes" story I've read and the other two I enjoyed. So my issue is not with the supernatural element to this story, not at all. My complaint has to do with the "background facts" in this tale, some of which are so preposterous or convoluted that in my opinion, they compromise the integrity of the story --- meaning I could only suspend my disbelief so far.
Without spoiling the book, I will highlight the three aspects of this story that raised the most red flags and pushed the most buttons.
For starters, the heroine, Delaney, is 25 years old and she has known her fiancé, Evan, since they both played in the sandbox together. This detail must be important to the storyline as it is often repeated. (The author even goes so far as to point out that Delaney's and Evan's moms met when they took a Lamaze class together, in case it wasn't clear how long Evan and Delaney have been in each other's lives.) The stumbling block in this scenario is that Evan is an orthopedic surgeon he's gone through college, med school, trained to be a surgeon, learned to be an orthopedic surgeon, and then established his own practice, all by the ripe old age of 25. In case anyone doesn't find this weird, let me add that the author also makes it clear that Delaney recently started her decorating/design business after finishing up her masters degree, which she began when she was done with college. Hmmm, in the time it took Delaney to receive a college education and get a Masters Degree, Evan manages to become an orthopedic surgeon? Either Delaney is a loser, Evan is a prodigy, or the author is asking her reader to REALLY suspend disbelief and not care about a character she created. (It should be noted that Evan being a doctor is relevant to the story.)
I suspect that the reason the author stuck her head in the sand about Delaney's and Evan's chronological ages being so out-of-sync with other aspects of her story is because the author needs for Delaney to be 25 (a/k/a red flag #2). Why? Because Delaney still lives at home with her parents, though not for the "typical" reasons. Delaney is a 25-year old heiress, money is no object, and the reason she stays at home is to keep the peace in the family**** after a tragedy devastated them all 17 years before this story takes place. Its a tad far-fetched, but I would have probably just shrugged it off if not for the fact that the reason the author makes Delaney young enough so it isn't too strange that she is still living at home . . . means that her sand-box pal, Evan, is starting medical school before his voice changes. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.
The other main character in this story, Nick, is a cop. The author makes it clear that he is a very level-headed and responsible human being, a solid guy you can count on, etc. Nick being a cop is not heavily played up because during the majority of the story he is on medical leave (and guess who his doctor is?), but the author never lets us forget Nick is one of the "good guys." However, with only about 10% of the story remaining, Nick's level-headedness goes out the window as he rushes off to rescue The Woman He Loves, and ends up doing some crazy things that put innocent bystanders in harms way. Usually in the stories I read about conscientious cops they try to avoid hurting innocent bystanders, but I suppose it is sort of believable and terribly romantic that Nick abandons his principles and "good guy" virtues to rescue his love . . . so I let this slide.
But AFTER he rescues her? No Way. Its as if a switch is flipped and the choices Nick makes no longer compute. Nick becomes so irresponsible and reckless that it is beyond the pale. He flagrantly disregards proprieties, police protocol, doing what is right and correct, etc. Among other things, his selfish and inexplicable actions bring unimaginable pain and stress to parents whom have already experienced more than their fair share of tragedy; his escape from responsibility prompts the involvement of tons of resources including the national media and the FBI; and his inability to think about anyone other than himself and his lady stirs up a huge hornets nest of angst and confusion. When reality finally intrudes and he starts thinking with his brain again (instead of using his other ____), neither he nor "his woman" appear to suffer any real consequences nor feel contrition nor remorse for all the trouble they've caused. Huh??
I am guessing that the point of this particular plotline is that the author wanted to show Nick so possessed by love and passion that he loses perspective and control, but give me a break! Its done at the expense (literally and figuratively) of so many others that instead of coming across as romantic it seems immature and selfish. Once again, I am left shaking my head and thinking "preposterous!" (Red flag #3.)
When I add up this uncharacteristic (and unattractive) side of Nick, the fact Evan is about 10 years younger than he should be, and the shaky reasons that Delaney is still living with Mom & Dad, it all becomes Too Much To Swallow. I am especially disappointed because I really don't think it would have been that complicated to clean up the mess and I can't understand why the author (and her editor) let this happen. As for the actual "romance," it is kind of cute and I think Nick is pretty darn dreamy until the very end when he forgets how to be a thoughtful and conscientious human being. But the love story is not nearly good enough to make it possible to ignore the problematic storylines and character inconsistencies, plus, as another reviewer noted, it is too wordy.
**** BTW, for much of the story I found it difficult to like Delaney, who often comes across as insecure, young and weak-willed, and with the personality of a doormat. Most of this is attributed to her need to appease her demanding mother and because she was overweight and unattractive as a child (such clichés!) Furthermore, when Delaney does finally cut loose, a lot of her actions are juvenile, self-centered, obnoxious and inconsiderate. I've come across many, many more likeable heroines.
I've now read three of the wedding veil stories and the one that impressed me the most was Jillian's story. I did not feel deprived that I missed out reading this one first (or at all) as these are all clearly meant to be stand alone stories. My advice is to skip this one.
I have ordered several Lori Wilde books and they are all very good. I will continue to order books from as long as I can read.

I wish there were more stars to check off for this. Loved it and the whole series! I would definately recommend this.
This was a very wonderful story. I enjoyed it from begining to end. Lori makes her charaters in the book so interesting to read! I didn't want to put it down. It was a fun story to read. ENJOY!
Not the best in this series but a good read.
My wife is an avid romance novel reader and she asked me to get this for her. I'm not interested in this stuff but she is.
